Kairosoft, developers of other amazingly addictive games such as Game Dev Story, have released another game to eat away any free time you thought you may have this holiday season called Epic Astro Story. This new sim game from Kairosoft actually brings in some interesting new game mechanics not seen in their previous games.

While at it's core it is a Sim City type of game, although themed around space in the future, Kairosoft has brought in some new game mechanics which have not been found in their previous titles so far which can only be described as either RPG type of gameplay. You will have to build up your new space city building roads and housing for your citizens along with industry, and of course attractions, in order to bring tourists to your city.

As you grow from a tiny colony into a mega space city, not all lifeforms are friendly and in this game you will actually have to battle it out with enemies all while trying to grow your city into the biggest there is on this side of the universe. Interestingly enough, it looks like you will be able to take a party and go exploring on this new planet you are trying to colonize and in doing so you will be checking out caves and other areas where not-so-friendly creatures may dwell.

This type of RPG / dungeon crawling gameplay is something we have not seen in previous Kairosoft titles which could make this particular one extra addicting. If you win your battles you can earn rewards which will help you out in various ways. Of course Epic Astro Story features alls the great pixel art we have come to enjoy from Kairosoft. If you are ready to have all your free time eaten away for the next couple of weeks, you can grab Epic Astro Story off the Android Market for $4.99.

Thanks to Roger Lyons for the heads up!
