A new shoot 'em up game called RAIDEN Sky Force Ace was recently released onto the Android Market by cnappbox that features just about all the retro style top-down scrolling shooting action you can handle. It is almost on the same level as bullet hell type shooters.

The only thing keeping RAIDEN Sky Force Ace away from being a bullet hell shooter is that, while there are a lot of bullets coming at you, bullet hell games generally have more. In AIR WAR you do have a chance to dodge the stuff being fired at you. It isn't a big chance or anything like that but you can squeeze in between bullets on occasion.

RAIDEN Sky Force Ace Features:

- 11 total levels
- 8 mini-bosses and 5 major bosses
- 3 ships to choose from
- Customizable wing-men for your ship
- Plenty of retro goodness

Similar to retro shooters like R-Type, RAIDEN Sky Force Ace comes packed with plenty of retro style pixel graphics to enjoy. When you get to the main screen you will have 3 ships to choose from and about 8 different types of wing-men that you can equip onto your ship. After that it is pure shooting fun. You can also collect the energy blocks that drop from destroyed enemies which are used to increase your ship's power. You also have the ability to launch special attacks as well.

If you are up for some retro shooter goodness that is almost like a bullet hell game then you may want to check this one out. You can download RAIDEN Sky Force Ace off of the Android Market for free.

Update Feb. 15th, 2012 7:54am: A quick update to let you know that AIR WAR seems to be a ripped off version of RAIDEN Sky Force Ace. We have changed the link and article appropriately to reflect this. RAIDEN does use AirPush Ads though so be warned. Thanks to Dave in the comments!
