It seems like everyone loves getting in touch with their inner Picasso. Since it launch in February developer OMGPOP's Pictionary-style game has reached over 50 million downloads in basically 50 days. Now officially the fastest selling mobile game in history, it has surpassed Rovio's latest game, Angry Birds: Space.
A total 13 million of those downloads were from last week alone. If this isn't a success story, the New York based company has already been picked up by another social gaming company which was all over the news the other week --- Zynga, also responsible for another successful social game, Farmville.
According to GameIndustry, roughly over 6 million drawings have been exchanged since its first release translating 3,000 doodles per second. Zynga also released a number of stats:
- The most popular words are: Starfish, pregnant, hangman, six pack, boom box
- The least popular word is latrine
- The best guessed words are: Rainbow, catfish, sun, fish, house, god, tornado
- The least guessed words are: Oar, Metroid, Warhol, pounce, polaroid, meathead, Autobots
Dropping over $180 million to purchase OMGPOP, it's still unclear how Zynga's buy-out will affect the game. However, with 20 million active players it'll be awhile before anyone can dethrone the social game.
