Yesterday we brought you news that Marvel's upcoming game called Avengers Initiative would be arriving on both select Android devices and iOS today. Unfortunately, we have some bad news in that the game's release has been delayed for Android devices.
As of right now there is no word as to why there is a delay or how long it will be before the game is released onto Google Play, only that it has been delayed. Interestingly enough, Tegra 3 device owners who play this game will be treated to extra effects such as actual battle damage showing up on characters, a detail we didn't know about until now. However, when it is released, it will be available for both Tegra and non-Tegra devices although it sounds like the list of devices is pretty specific. Marvel has been pretty on point with making sure to say 'select Android devices' in every post about the game.
So for right now we have to wait to play the Infinity Blade style superheroes game series, this release being the first 'episode' featuring the Hulk. At least we have the official launch trailer we can watch until then. If anything changes, we will be sure to post an update. Same goes for when the game is released, whenever that may be.
List of supported devices at launch:
- HTC One X
- HTC Evo 4g
- HTC Incredible 4g
- LG G2x
- LG Nitro HD
- Motorola Droid 3
- Motorola Droid RAZR
- Motorola Droid Charge
- Motorola Atrix 4g
- Motorola Photon Q 4g
- Samsung Galaxy Nexus
- Samsung Galaxy SII
- Samsung Galaxy SIII
- Samsung Galaxy Note
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1
- Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7
- Google Nexus 7
- Asus Transformer Prime
- Asus Transformer
Update Sept. 6th, 2012 3:27am: It looks like the Google Play listing we linked to in our previous article yesterday is now live. However, it isn't letting anyone download just yet including supported devices. Think of it as though they are teasing us. As soon as it goes live, we will update again.
Thanks to Nabil L. for the tip!
