While this shouldn't be too much of a surprise for anyone really, it is still interesting to check out the numbers involved with something like this. Apparently Imangi Studios' Temple Run 2 which just recently came out on Android has broken the record for the fastest growing mobile game ever with over 50 million downloads across iOS, Android and Kindle Devices in 13 days.
To put that in perspective, that means each day Temple Run 2 was download over 3.84 million times. That is a lot of downloads. The game that held this record previously was, and you've probably guessed it already, Rovio's Angry Birds which hit the 50 million downloads mark in 35 days. This means Temple Run 2 managed to beat the record using less than half the time it took Angry Birds to hit 50 million downloads.
Temple Run has evolved into something so much bigger than us. The game has performed beyond our wildest dreams, and we are thrilled that gamers and fans have embraced Temple Run 2 in such a short period of time. - Keith Shepherd, co-founder of Imangi
While we don't have exact numbers per operating system to share with you, on Google Play alone Temple Run 2 is labeled as having between 10 million and 50 million downloads already. It will be interesting to see how long it will Temple Run 2 to surpass the original game's total download which is currently sitting at over 170 million.
