EA ready for solid Android commitment

This isn't entirely new news nor is it anything groundbreaking since EA has been involved with deploying some of their games onto the Android platform so not a huge need to post about it right away. In case you haven't read this already on one of the many other Android sites reporting on this bit of info, it seems EA is ready to make a strong solid commitment to Android.

EA actually has had a decent amount of titles on the Android market for awhile with relatively decent success. It seems though in light of the massive upswing Android gaming is taking, especially as of late with OpenFeint now on Android and a slew of developers bringing their games from iOS to Android.

“There's a lot to happen in the future in Android,” said Eric Brown, CFO of EA, “and we’re trying to position our mobile business to take advantage of that trend.I think the next big positive wave to push better growth in mobile will be the deployment of an App Store equivalent for the Android operating system."

Couldn't agree more with you on that one Mr. Brown. Developers have been asking for something like that for awhile now and hopefully we will see it sooner then later. Brown also says that Android should hold 25% of the mobile market 2014 compared to the iPhone's 11%. That is a very big difference and a lot of developers should take note of that if they are still undecided about developing for Android.

So what will we see next from EA? Well they plan to bring their biggest title in their company over to Android and that would be the Madden football series with Madden 2011 heading our way very soon. Hopefully their launches from now on will be a bit better then they have been.
