Stonetrip’s ShiVa3D Engine Optimised for TI’s OMAPTM 3 Platform
Powerful 3D Engine Creates Unparalleled Gaming Graphics for AndroidTM-based Mobile Devices Running on OMAP Technology

SOPHIA-ANTIPOLIS, France – Thursday November 11, 2010 – Stonetrip, the leading 3D engine company for games and 3D applications, today announced a partnership with Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) that makes ShiVa3D the most powerful option for developing games on mobile platforms featuring TI’s OMAPTM 3 platform. Application creators targeting AndroidTM-based mobile devices powered by the OMAP 3 technology can use ShiVa3D to get the most from the on-board applications processors and to create high-quality 3D games and applications.

Stonetrip’s support of the OMAP platform is part of its long-term goal to work closely with TI and remain the best integrated cross-platform engine on the market. ShiVa3D supports the complete family of OMAP 3 processors, most recently integrated with the OMAP3630 processors.

“ShiVa3D was the first 3D game and application development engine for the Android platform. By partnering with TI, we can further optimise our code, resulting in better performance for ShiVa3D developers,” said Philip Belhassen, CEO of Stonetrip. “TI has always been a leader in processor technology, which fits perfectly with our goal of aligning with other leaders and platforms where we can share knowledge and provide a great consumer experience together.”

“Bringing effective 3D graphics and applications to mobile devices can be a technical challenge for developers,” said Sonia Ferrante, director, OMAP consumer business line, TI. “Outstanding user experiences require exceptional power management and image rendering speed. The ShiVa3D engine is optimised to smartly leverage the OMAP 3 platform’s fast, power-efficient computing capabilities to create engaging gaming experiences and more.”

Stonetrip has worked on very low level integration with TI’s hardware to provide unmatched performance and deep functionality for apps built on the engine. By working together with TI, Stonetrip has ensured that ShiVa3D is the best engine for mobile devices by giving full access to the OMAP 3 technology’s processing power. Games built using ShiVa3D can also benefit from maximised battery life since there is less abstraction from the silicon. The overall result is a great end-user experience.
