I know that a lot of people have been wanting to see this game make its way to Android and now their requests have been answered. Developer Pelya who brought us OpenTyrian has now ported over OpenTTD to Android. OpenTTD is an open source clone of Transport Tycoon Deluxe which most people would argue is better then the actual original game.

Transport Tycoon Deluxe is a simulation game where you are in charge of the transportation grid of whatever city you are trying to develop. There is lots to overcome to end up being a Tycoon in the transportation industry. OpenTTD brings the game into the world of open source where it has been developed and even improved upon.

Features:

  • High detailed graphics
  • Great simulation gameplay
  • True to the original game (if not better)
  • Online multiplayer is available as well

Like any good simulation game, OpenTTD is very deep in gameplay and it isn't a game you'll get good at with an hour of playing. However, it does offer up a lot of replay value especially with the online multiplayer games. Anyone who enjoys simulation games will want to get this game for their Android phone.

Speaking of getting the game, you can pick up OpenTTD off the Android Market for free. It is open source after all. There is also a ton of documentation, instructions, game manuals and more on the official OpenTTD site. If you are more into top-down scrolling games with an old school flare, you might want to check out Pelya's OpenTyrian game instead.
