Cedemo announced today that they have launched their "Video Game Barcode Scanner App" onto the Android Market. This application will let you scan the barcodes on video games you are looking to buy to help you make the best choice. While not an actual game, most Android gamers play games on other systems, which is why we are reporting on this.

The Cedemo Video Game Barcode Scanner App will scan UPC barcodes and display information and media for over 20,000 games across all major platforms dating back to 1999, including descriptions, videos, trailers, screenshots, exclusive content, ESRB/PEGI/BBFC ratings and feature lists.

It will also show you, if you want it to, a Top 10 list of the latest video games, an 'Oldies' list highlighting some of the classic games from back in the day, random videos which will be generated when you shake your phone, and you'll be able to share game media with friends on Facebook.

“We’re pleased to now offer a mobile app to US and UK consumers, building on our reputation as the leading marketing platform for game publishers in Europe,” states Melody Meyblum, VP Marketing, Cedemo SAM. “The free app will benefit video game shoppers by providing them with valuable game info, images and video on their mobile devices. At the same time, we look forward to helping publishers engage shoppers with their games on store shelves while building out our marketing platform in the US and UK.”

While some video game enthusiasts will enjoy this application, the majority of the features are more of a novelty such as the sharing game media to friends on Facebook or videos. You can scan a UPC barcode to get all kinds of information on a game or you can just read the back of the box to get a majority of it anyways.

The only thing that looks enticing to use this is the ability to dig up videos of games you're looking to buy. You can pick this up off the Android Market for free.
