Welcome to the land of success and ridiculous amounts of money Rovio! The developer of the insanely popular game Angry Birds are projecting revenue from the Android version (only the Android version) of roughly 1 million per month from ads displayed in-game. While numbers vary on downloads with reports of 5-8 million, at this point it is a huge amount of money.
In the video below, Peter Vesterbacka mentions some other interesting statistics during a talk at the Google AdMob's mobile developer series. Talk about a crazy success story. However, keep in mind that this could change very soon if Rovio sticks to their plans of eventually adding an in-game purchase feature which will allow Android gamers the ability to remove ads for a small fee.
Also coming in the in-game purchase update will be the Mighty Eagle bird, available for a one time purchase. The Mighty Eagle will be usable multiple times with the one purchase but will have a cool down time between uses, rumored to be 24hrs.
