Mafia Wars coming to Android this month, Farmville soon after?

David Ko is the SVP of Mobile over at Zynga and was on stage at LeWed talking about the future of mobile gaming and Zynga. Mentioning that Mafia Wars is coming to Android is one thing, mentioning it would be available this month though is another. With Poker by Zynga already on the Android Market, Mafia Wars looks to bring more Zynga to gamers.

While monetization of Mafia Wars is still in question, it is a Freemium game after all, David Ko says for now Zynga is leaving it to the future to decide what is best. Could this mean Mafia Wars will not be free when it is released? Possibly but the likelihood of this is slim. Freemium is much more successful and will more than likely be how they go.

Other news regarding Zynga, however, is that Farmville will be making the trip as well. Originally we thought it would be the first game they would release for Android instead of Poker. 'Farm Village', which is what Farmville is called in Japan, has already made the jump to 'smartphones' there and is also successful on iOS. The next logical step, Android devices, if in fact the 'smartphones' in Japan playing Farm Village are not Android yet.

Just one more game for you to sink countless hours into, aren't you all happy!
