Plants vs Zombies will be getting support for the Xperia Play

Announced at the Sony Ericsson booth during GamesCom 2011 was that PopCap's very popular game called Plants vs Zombies will be coming to the Xperia Play. This means that anyone who owns an Xperia Play will soon be able to use the controls to play Plants vs Zombies.

The announcement was made after the Android Robot and PopCap zombie had their dance-off which turned out to be... interesting. While details of how the game will use the Xperia Play controls hasn't been released yet, Plants vs Zombies did start life out on the XBox 360. With that said, the control scheme will probably be something very similar to the layout it used on the XBox 360.

Unfortunately there is no word on exactly when Xperia Play support will come to Plants vs Zombies and whether or not it will be offered on the Android Market or remain exclusive to the Amazon App Store. If you have access to the Amazon App Store for Android and want to grab Plants vs Zombies, it will set you back a cool $2.99.
