nVidia is keeping the ball rolling with their high-end chips for mobile devices with two new chips that will be in Android devices this year. The duo of chips are the Tegra 2 3D chip and the Tegra 3 and both sport some great specs that will make any Android gamer be eager to get a device with one of these in it.
The Tegra 2 3D chip will be geared towards, you guessed it, 3D on your Android device. This chip will be for both phones and tablets and considering the push for 3D in pretty much every avenue of visual entertainment that is going on right now in the electronics industry, no surprise that there is a chip for that for mobile devices. You know how everyone always says "There is an app for that"? In 6 months we will be saying "There is a chip for that" at the rate things are going.
Specs Tegra 2 3D (T25 & AP25 models):
T25 will be the tablet version while the AP25 will be for mobile phones.
The Tegra 3 chip will also have a version for tablets and a version for mobile phones with the T30 and the AP30 model numbers. The tablet version will be a quad-core only chip while there will be both dual and quad-core mobile phone versions of the Tegra 3 chip.
Tegra 3 T30 specs:
Tegra 3 AP30 Specs:
Both Tegra 3 chip variants already have sample out in the wild and devices are expected to start appearing with these bad boys in them in the Fall of this year. This means CES 2012 should have a lot to offer in the quad-core Tegra 3 department. If you plan to upgrade your Android phone or get a tablet this year, you'll have lots of powerhouses to choose from, especially if you enjoy Android games.
