We don't usually post rumors and honestly this one is a bit farfetched but according to a supplier tipster that tipped off DigiTimes, Google is contacting hardware partners, encouraging them to consider new tablets and phones that will run Android 5.0.
Android 5.0, or as it is rumored to be codenamed "Jelly Bean", would be one of the quickest new versions of Android released if this is true. We don't really think it is though simply because most manufacturers haven't even pushed out their Android 4.0 updates yet. Most devices that will be receiving Android 4.0 are not receiving it until later this Spring. Pumping out Android 5.0 right after that in the Summer doesn't make any sense.
Still the tipster apparently warrants enough attention from DigiTimes for them to post about it. The rumor goes on to mention about Google looking for a dual-boot solution on devices so that they could boot up either Android 5.0 or Windows 8 which also seems really unbelievable.
Still, it is food for thought. What if Google really is pushing Android 5.0 for a Q2 2012 release?
