OUYA pre-orders live on Amazon and GameStop, Final Fantasy III confirmed

Posted by AndrewH in Hardware on February 06, 2013

It seems like OUYA news always comes in clumps lately and today is no different as we have a few bits of information regarding the Android powered console to go over. First, for those of you who haven't pre-ordered a unit yet, you can  now do so off of Amazon.com and GameStop.com instead of just through the OUYA website.

This news falls right in line with yesterday's announcement regarding OUYA getting some pretty big retail support. OUYA will hit store shelves this June thanks to some new deals that have been inked with a couple of companies such as Target, GameStop and Best Buy who will all carry OUYA consoles inside their physical storefronts. Regardless of where you go to pre-order yourself a unit, the price will be $99 for the console and one controller with extra controllers costing an additional $49.

In other news regarding OUYA, we mentioned awhile ago that some major game development companies had jumped on board to bring some of their games to the console. One of those companies mentioned was Square Enix who expressed interest in bringing some of their games to OUYA. Well the company has now confirmed that Final Fantasy III would be arriving and will most likely be available when OUYA initially launches.

What is even more interesting is the fact that Square Enix will be adding new exclusive content to the OUYA version of Final Fantasy III. This OUYA version of the classic RPG will be the only one with this new content. It should be interesting to see what this exclusive content turns out to be.
