Samsung releases the W899 twin touch screen flip phone

More device news coming our way this Monday and again from Samsung. This time instead of the Nexus S it is the W899. This is a flip phone (clamshell in other words) that features twin Super AMOLED screens (front and back) on the top half of the phone. Also it features a rather great looking gold-ish and black finish on the outside.

Samsung W899 specs:

  • Android 2.2
  • Twin 3.3" Super AMOLED screens (WVGA)
  • CDMA (800/1900Mhz) and GSM (900/1800/1900 MHZ)
  • 1GHz processor (going to assume it is Hummingbird)
  • WiFi and Bluetooth
  • 5MP camera with 720 HD video
  • MicroSD Card slot

For a clamshell phone, the gold-like color and black color finish makes it one of the better looking ones out there and when it comes to Android, there really isn't a whole lot out on the Market when regarding clamshell phones. Unfortunately for everyone else in the world, the W899 is only being released in China, at least for now. No word yet on whether it'll be available anywhere else.

Scary part is this, the W899 is almost as appealing as the Nexus S even though it has smaller screens. Could be good for gaming if you don't mind the smaller screen size.
