Changes? Changes! We don't like changes... or do we?

So it is a new year and there are many many things in the works for everyone here at DroidGamers. As you know, we have been growing incredibly fast and have had a bit of growing pains in the process, mostly on the technical side of things. Well those are a thing of the past as we've been working hard to make this site better for you!

What do we have planned? Well let me tell you!

New Comment System: There were numerous people telling us that the Captcha on the comment system we were using was not working properly half the time making it difficult for people to post comments and discuss articles at times. Well we have finally changed over to a new commenting system which runs on Disqus. You'll be able to comment when logged into your DroidGamers account, Disqus account or through any other log-in methods like Twitter, Facebook or OpenID. Best of all... no Captcha!

Podcasts: We are going to be starting our live podcasts sometime over the next couple of weeks. There will be laughs, tears and rants but really it will just be fun and we will be talking about Android gaming news and have guest speakers, all that good stuff.

THE Community: We have been hard at work implementing a new, massive feature here at DroidGamers that will be completely community driven. When you have an account here at DroidGamers, you will now be able to post your own blog posts, submit pictures and videos, share stuff, comment on other people's account, talk to developers and follow their development work and much much more! Think of it as Facebook but geared towards Android, games, gaming and things of that nature. Oh, you'll be able to import your Facebook profile into it as well to save time as well as change your Twitter/Facebook status right from your account here.

We will be launching this over the next couple of weeks as well.

New Forums: New forums are in the works. Currently we are using Phpbb3 and it blows for what we want. Our new forums will have more features and much more interactivity to it and be a lot faster and more organized.

New Server: In case you were away for the past week and a half, we have migrated to a new server for faster load times. We were just growing to fast for our old server to keep up with so now we have this nice shiny new one... which we are already starting to out grow. It's all good though, we have another one getting ready to take the load off this one.

Layout Changes: Also to help with loading speed of the site, you may have noticed a few layout changes. This is to help the site load faster and to make it more user friendly. We still have a few bugs to work out but it'll be polished up here shortly.

More Event Coverage: We will be hitting every major event that we can weasel our way into such as CTIA, GDC 2011, Google I/O, E3 and more. We will also be trying to stuff our European staff members into some events over there, they just don't know it yet.

More AGC Tournaments: We have at least 3 Android Gaming Challenge tournaments slated for this year, possibly a forth being a live event here in Las Vegas but we can't talk to much about that yet.

More Social Stuff: You'll be able to follow our YouTube channel that we recently set up as well as our upcoming Facebook page just in case you can't get enough of us here.

This certainly isn't the end of the list either but since this is a lot to take in, we thought this is enough for now. So if you are here at the site and you see it acting a bit funny, that's just us getting ready to launch a new feature or polishing something up, don't be afraid! Change is good, at least when it comes to DroidGamers.
