Samsung just got finished with their Unpacked event over at CTIA and have announced two new tablets coming our way very soon, summer in fact. The Galaxy Tablet 8.9 and the Galaxy Tablet 10.1 will be heading into our hands this summer with some seriously good pricing to top it all off. Oh, did we mention they are dual-core?

Both tablets are sporting almost identical hardware for the most part, both coming in 16GB and 32GB version as well as WiFi only editions AND 4G editions. The 10.1 and 8.9 both pack 3MP cameras in the read with 2MP front-facing camera, mini SDCard slots, 3.5mm headphone jacks, SIM slots and measure just .33 of an inch think making them the thinnest tablets out. Thinner than the iPad2 which measures .34 of an inch in thickness.

Both will also be sporting Honeycomb which means both are also going to be dual-core tablets. However, whether this will be Tegra 2 or something else (Orion?) remains to be seen. Each tablet will also back a huge battery giving it 10 hours of usage before having to worry about plugging them in.

And now for the possible downside to all of this...

Honeycomb will be layered with the TouchWiz UX. Yeah we know, TouchWiz. According to Engadget though, instead of hindering the beautiful Honeycomb OS, it seems to add a bit more to the overall experience. Samsung seems to hint at possible a stock version coming at some point in the future though, hopefully, for all your purists out there.

Samsung also did something they don't normally do and that is announce pricing and availability for both the 8.9 and the 10.1 WiFi versions of the Galaxy Tablet. June 8th you can expect to see the 10.1 available for purchase with the 16GB to cost $499 and the 32GB priced at $599. The 8.9 WiFi version will be available sometime in the summer and pricing for this one  at 16GB is $469 and the 32GB is $569. For the extra space, $30 more is well worth it.

So with all this info out now, who is actually interested in snapping up one of these tablets over a XOOM or G-Slate?
