Galaxy Tab 10.1N safe to play, for now.

If you’ve been keeping count on the continuing saga of Samsung and Apple paten wars then add a point on the scoreboard for the Korean giant. According to a Bloomberg report, the Cupertino based company’s latest attempt to ban the newly redesigned Galaxy Tab, 10.1 N and Galaxy Nexus was dismissed by the German court.

Prior to new allegation, Apple had successfully prevented the sale of the original Galaxy Tab 10.1, citing similarities in hardware and software designs. They gave the following guidelines to prevent further infringement:

Smartphones:

- Front surface that isn't black.
- Overall shape that isn't rectangular, or doesn't have rounded corners.
- Display screens that aren't centered on the front face and have substantial lateral borders.
- Non-horizontal speaker slots.
- Front surfaces with substantial adornment.
- No front bezel at all.

Tablets:

- Overall shape that isn't rectangular, or doesn't have rounded corners.
- Thick frames rather than a thin rim around the front surface.
- Front surface that isn't entirely flat.
- Profiles that aren't thin.
- Cluttered appearance.

Samsung redesigned the 10.1 with larger bezel and slyly sold the redesigned tab under 10.1N. Apparently Apple wasn’t happy with what they saw and asked the German court to include the 10.N and the Nexus Galaxy to the ban list.

Despite the setbacks, this is only a small hiccup in Apple’s quest to utterly destroy Android. We just hope Apple takes a break from the playground brawl before our German brethren miss out on the upcoming Shadowgun:Deadzone
