nVidia shows off quad-core Android tablet gaming eye candy with Glowball at Computex

Computex 2011 is currently underway over in Taiwan and one of the little gems of awesomeness that has come out of Computex already is in regards to nVidia showing off some serious eye candy on their upcoming quad-core chipset, codenamed Kal-El. The game is called Glowball and it does, indeed, shine.

Glowball is a tilt game where you control a ball that glows that is being used to show off the power of quad-core gaming in upcoming Android devices. There isn't a whole lot of imformation on the game itself but Glowball does require all of the chipset to run. In the demo video nVidia released, they shut off half of the chipset and the performance drops to around 10fps (frames-per-second). However, Glowball does show off some incredible eye candy that will be available to us soon. Dynamic lighting, more precise physics in real time and more realistic interaction with the environment are shown in this new demo video.

We got to take a look at once of their demo devices at GDC 2011 running Kal-El and in person the graphics are incredible as is the responsiveness of the controls. We already know of at least three games coming to quad-core Android tablets when they are released. These are Zen Pinball, Shadowgun and now Glowball. We also know that quad-core devices will be landing much sooner than we think, however, we aren't allowed to elaborate more than that right now.

Keep in mind before the whole fragmentation thing is said that dual and quad-core Android devices will be the norm in less than a year. At that point, fragmentation in hardware and game compatibility will be less of an issue.

Thanks to Sir Brizz for the heads up and nVidia for sending us the demo video.
