Back during CES 2011 we got to take a look at Toshiba and their offering for the Android tablet market. This 10.1" beastly tablet was one of our favorites out of the entire show back then. Over the past few months since CES, there really hasn't been a whole lot of info aside from official specs released.

Now the wait seems to be almost over for those of you wanting one of these tablets. Toshiba has announced that the Thrive will go on sale in July with pre-orders starting July 13th. Pricing is also pretty impressive as well. It will come in three models: 8GB, 16GB and 32GB. The 8GB model will run $429, 16GB - $479, and the 32GB will cost a cool $579. Those are very competitive prices.

Other features that come with the Thrive:

  • Android 3.1 Honeycomb
  • Full sized HDMI, USB and SDCard slots
  • Customizable back plate: You will be able to choose from 5 colors
  • Removeable battery
  • 10.1" HD touchscreen running at 1280x800 resolution
  • 2MP Front-facing camera, 5MP rear-facing camera
  • nVidia Tegra 2 dual-core processor

If a company wants to make a big splash in a new market like Toshiba is doing with the Android tablet market, this is how you do exactly that. Stuff some of the best hardware into the device and release it onto the market at a very competitive price. Expect a review of this tablet as well as soon as we get our hands on one.
