Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will be arriving on Android tablets this month

Posted by AndrewH in Tablet Gaming News on November 02, 2012

The remake of the classic RPG Baldur's Gate, which we've reported on since it hit up Kickstarter for funding, will be arriving a little sooner than expected, although it is still arriving later than the initial release date. Originally slated for a September 18th, 2012 release date, the developers eventually had to delay the game's launch until November 30th, 2012. Now, Beamdog's head man Trent Oster has confirmed that the game will actually be arriving on November 28th, 2012, two days early.

Since the game needs to go through approvals on certain app stores and markets, and the fact Beamdog is trying to release the game on all platforms at the same time, the November 28th, 2012 release date could change by a day or two either earlier or later. It all depends on how the approval process goes.

“We are targeting November 28 for all platforms. Since we have approvals, etc, we can’t 100% control the date on iOS, Mac and Android.” - Trent Oster, Beamdog

Olster did go on to confirm, via Twitter, that Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition would run on the Nexus 7 tablet when it launches which is good news for those of you who own a Nexus 7 and are getting a little tired of games being released without compatibility for the Nexus 7 right off the jump, instead getting it in an update shortly after launch.

For those of you who missed our previous coverage of Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, this is basically a revamped and re-imaged version of the original RPG title as well as the Tales of the Sword Coast expansion. However, it will also be coming with some new features and content that the original game didn't. Baldur's Game: Enhanced Edition will also support cross-platform multplayer as well so you will be able to team up with your friends who are playing on other platforms. Whether that comes right at launch or shortly after in an update remains to be seen but as far as we know, it should be available when the game arrives.

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition is still slated to arrive with a $9.99 price tag and there will be in-game purchases but they are pretty optional and more just extra stuff should you want it. All content will be available to play when you pay the $9.99. One last note, this game will be for tablets only, at least for right now.
