Last week Amazon announced that they would be hosting the mobile esports tournament, called the Champions of Fire Invitational, here in our city of Las Vegas. Well besides us attending the event to cover it, we are also hosting the live stream of the event right here as well.
Mobile eSports is still a young part of the entire eSports scene but it is growing. Amazon has announced today that they will be holding their first mobile eSports tournament next month called the Champions of Fire Invitational in Las Vegas. The prize pool? A cool $100,000, with 1st place cashing in $30,000. The official host of this tournament is actually the Amazon Appstore and the tournament as a whole will feature a variety of casual mobile games.

The Skylanders franchise has gotten a new game added to its catalog today called Skylanders Battlecast. This particular game has been in a region-specific soft launch for a bit now, but today is the game’s global launch. The interesting part about this game is that it follows the Skylanders tradition of having a physical product that players can purchase in stores. So, just like with the Skylanders figurines that you can scan into your games, Skylanders Battlecast physical cards can be purchased and scanned into this game as well.
Released by Isotope 244 LLC, the same developer behind Land, Air, Sea War, Machines at War 3 is a new RTS game released on the Android platform. In this game, players will command a military contingent, tasked with recovering a cabal of researchers who’ve disappeared under mysterious circumstances.
Originally released two decades ago for PC, Max and the Secret Formula has now been re-released on mobile. In this game, players assume the token of the eponymous Max, a dog who resides in a village named Rightaroundthecorner. From here, Max receives a letter from his Uncle Pong, who lives in another village named Veryfaraway.
For those of you who try to collect and use Amazon Coins, the company has a Double Coin Back promotion going on this week regarding a couple of games. Anyone who purchases 5,000 or 10,000 Amazon Coins on the Amazon Appstore will be able to do so at 20% off their regular price. This essentially allows players to buy more while spending less.
It’s Friday and therefor it is time for another round-up of Android games on sale right now for this weekend. It is a holiday weekend and like most holiday weekends, there is a lot of games on sale already. There is some good news and bad news today regarding Amazon’s Free App of the Day promotion which has been running every day for some time now. The bad news is that it doesn’t exist anymore. There will be no more Free Apps of the Day. The good news is that it is being replaced with Amazon Underground, which is a new application full of free apps and games.
Amazon is gearing up to launch its own virtual currency that Kindle Fire owners can use to buy apps and games for their Kindle device. Officially called Amazon Coins, this virtual currency is slated to launch this May and provide another way for Kindle Fire owners to pay for their applications and games.
