Google has gone through all of the submissions for the Google Play Indie Games Contest that was announced back in November 2016, and have finally picked out the Top 20 finalists who will move on to the next round of eliminations. Out of the 20 games selected, only 7 have yet to be released, which gives us a sort of heads up about a few upcoming games that must be titles to keep an eye out for.

Hyunmin Ryu’s one-man indie development team, R2Road Studio, has brought us a Legend of Zelda styled, action-RPG game called The Fable of Ruby. Peaceful laboratory worker Ruby is beset by calamity on the job in a mysterious tower. In order to overcome this crisis she embarks on an adventure fraught with peril. Ruby must make her way through the tower, defeating monsters, collecting loot, and heroically saving the day.
Google has finally decided to hold a gaming-centric event and the first one will actually be coming up rather quickly. The event, which will be an indie gaming festival, will be held in San Francisco this Fall and you can be sure that we will be getting our collective asses over there when it begins.
Today Google has announced that they will be holding the first Google Play Awards during the upcoming Google I/O conference next month. As you are probably guessing, these awards will be for a variety of things, covering a bunch of different categories on Google Play.

Google launched the Indie Corner on Google Play back in February of this year, and each week or so it features some of the newer and best indie games that are available on Google Play. This week’s list is actually quite a good one, with 15 pretty great indie titles being showcased.

Indie developer errorsevendev has released a new minimal styled arcade game called Quadrant onto Android. This particular game is a time-based reflex game, which means you start with a set amount of time and you’ll need to be pretty fast and getting what you need to get done actually finished.
While the official Humble Mobile Bundle may be back for good, the idea of having Android games making their appearance in other Humble Bundles seems to be continuing as well. The latest Humble Indie Bundle 16 has a good selection of games, with a couple of them actually being for the Android platform as well.
Google likes to add different sections to showcase different types of games and applications on Google Play. This has been anything and everything from free-to-play games, to applications that are tools for a specific purpose, to genre specific categories. Some of these categories stay, while others end up disappearing after a short amount of time.
