[Update: Now Available] The new refreshed Nvidia Shield console will be officially available Monday, January 16th

As you are probably well aware of by now, Nvidia announced a new refreshed version of their Nvidia Shield Android TV unit, which subsequently when up for pre-orders a few days after the reveal at CES 2017. Well if you’ve pre-ordered yours, or are just planning to order one when they become available, all of that will be happening on Monday, January 16, 2017, which is next week.

Nvidia has submitted a new controller and remote specs to the FCC

Nvidia has submitted designs for a pair of new wireless peripherals to the FCC. To wit, they are a TV remote (similar to the one used with Nvidia’s Android TV model), and a game controller. Starting with the latter, it’s obvious that it’s a redesign for a few reasons. First, the shape of the controller is a bit on the leaner side, thinning out at the lower portion (think PlayStation’s Sixaxis controller, but not quite as drastic).

Nintendo’s upcoming NX system may actually be two devices in one

Nintendo this year is planning to finally start revealing details about their next system called the NX. Recently this system was in the news the other day because of the apparent rumor that it will come with the ability to work with mobile devices, PCs, and possibly other consoles. Today news is coming out that takes things a step further, making it all the more interesting, with the fact that the NX may actually be two devices.

Amazon Throws Down the Gauntlet: Bans Sales of Chromecast and Apple TV

Just days after Google announced its latest iteration of the popular Chromecast streaming device, Amazon has made an announcement of its own; Amazon sellers are banned from selling any version of the device, or its peer, the Apple TV. The move demonstrates just how serious Amazon is about bolstering its own streaming service, but that hasn’t stopped Amazon from offering a friendly spin that seems unrelated to competition.

Nvidia Shield will be available in Europe tomorrow. Also forms a new partnership with Google Fiber.

While the big news today regarding the Nvidia Shield Android TV is that GeForce Now will be launching tomorrow, that isn’t all of the news regarding Nvidia today. If you live in Europe, all you’ve really been able to do is stare at pictures of the Shield Android TV. Tomorrow that changes as well since the company has now made it available for European residents.
