The first of Nvidia’s line of gaming-centric Android devices, the Nvidia Shield has done pretty good for itself. There are still a couple of items being tweaked though regarding the device’s software and Nvidia has kept working on supporting the device and today we get Update 92 which fixes some of these software issues.

Minecraft: Pocket Edition players know that Mojang is working on true online multiplayer that could arrive as soon as the 0.6.0 update if all goes well. However, up until now, and until that update comes out, we’ve been trying various ways to create a true Minecraft: Pocket Edition server whether it be hosted off your device or on a PC. We’ve seen a few projects aiming towards this goal but now it seems one has actually accomplished this and it’s called PocketMine-MP.
Lots of people want to play Tegra 2 games but don’t currently have a Tegra 2 device. This leads to lots of sad faces but there is hope in the form of an app called Chainfire3D. So what is Chainfire3D? It is an OpenGL video driver that lets you do some pretty awesome things in general but the main thing is with graphic manipulation.
John Carmack, Technical Director over at id Software who has developed Rage for iOS, came out today and confirmed that Rage will not be coming to Android anytime soon. This news makes us wonder what the job posting they had up for Android developers awhile back was for if it wasn’t to bring Rage to Android.
Interview With Bonafide Software – Developer of the upcoming 3D MMORPG called Clockwork Rune
Clockwork Rune is an upcoming 3D MMORPG being developed by Bonefide Software. The route they are taking with this is a more realistic looking 3D game you’ll be able to play anywhere you have a connection on your Android device. We got to sit down with Bonefide Software to talk about Clockwork Rune and how it is coming along.
A lot of people have been waiting to get their hands on the Android version of Vendetta Online and now the wait is over. Before you get all excited though, there are a few requirements that need to be met. First you’ll need a Tegra 2 tablet, but we already knew that. Secondly, it has to be 7″ screen size or bigger.
Remember way back when we first went live and we reported on a 3D MMORPG coming to Android that was originally based for PC play called Vendetta Online by Guild Software? Well after that article, all was silent on the development… until now. John Bergman got in touch with us with an offer we couldn’t refuse.
In an interview with Ars Technica, Mark Rein comments about the Android OS and Unreal Engine. Overall the interview is great and is definitely a good read. Most of it is focused on iOS and Infinity Blade, however, Mark Rein does comment on Android. The Unreal Engine is up and running for Android, but we already knew that.
XDA’s community has more great news for us. After their triumph over the outdated Windows Mobile 6.5 OS on HTC’s HD2 they’ve managed to do the same with Toshiba’s TG-01. The world’s first Snapdragon equipped smartphone is now compatible with Google’s more modern Android OS. From it looks of it the Snapdragon chip manages games just fine.
It’s been awhile since we posted about Rage and the possibility of it coming to Android. While it was almost a given back in our original post that it was on its way, official confirmation seems to have come in the way of Twitter from John Carmack who states in his tweet that he is going to be porting Rage Mobile to the Android platform.
