Google is keeping it’s Nexus One (now it’s official developer phone since being pulled from sale) ahead of the Android version curve with the newest 2.2.1 update. (Source) (Download)
While it’s unclear what the 2.2.1 update changes that will likely soon change when XDA starts ripping it apart (momentarily). It’s currently believed to bring bug fixes and a new radio to improve battery life. The update is manual only, indicating that it doesn’t bring any important security or privacy improvements or anything of that urgent nature. Bugs are believed to be fixed as well to improve stability. It is believed that 2.2.1 is an exclusive N1-specific update similar to the 2.0.1 update the original Droid got soon after launch, however until developers pull this release apart we wont know for sure.
