World of Warcraft Android apps – Getting yourself ready for Cataclysm

World of Warcraft: Cataclysm is just around the corner and it is a safe bet a lot of people who play games on their Android phones also play PC/Console games. Out of those there is probably a big percentage who play WoW or used to and are planning to get back into it with this new expansion. Here are some of the best utility apps for WoW players.

It’s always good to be prepared ahead of time when playing MMORPGs, especially if you are a hardcore gaming when it comes to them. World of Warcraft has a lot of players like that and being a former hardcore raider myself, mods and utilities are always handy. After going through the Android Market, I’ve dug up some of the best and most useful applications to have on your Android phone as you play W.O.W and get ready for Cataclysm.

WoW Talents Pro: Developer by Jason Reber, WoW Talents Pro is the best talents calculator for Android. Constant support and updates have shot this great utility application far above any other talent calculator available. Currently updated to WoW version 4.0.3, you can already have your talents worked out by the time Cataclysm hits the store shelves.

This newest version also includes Glyphs and Masteries along with talents and everything else you would need to calculate your talents properly for the best builds possible. You’ll also be able to load specs right from the Armory. While there is a free version of this available on the Android Market which has pretty much everything the full version does, the paid version sees updates a bit faster, a few more options and it well worth the $1.99.

WoW Droid Armory: This is the best Armory application for Android with constant updates and few glitches. Developed by Orabig, not only do you have the full Armory on your Android phone with stats and items, you can also check out your character in full 3D rendering with rotation.

It comes with just about every option you could want including advanced searching, gear score, full stats displayable and more. Orabig also offers this as a free ad-supported full version although to kill the ads there is a donation version for $4.80.

WoW Tool: Simple user interface and a jack-of-all-trades type of application, WoW Tool is a swiss army knife for your Android phone when regarding WoW information. While Droid Armory and Talents Pro have you covers in those areas, WoW Tool offers you a drop rate calculator as well as a PvP arena points calculator should you be wondering how long it will take you to earn gear or reach a rank.

WoW Realm Status: While having all these tools at your disposal is great. It doesn’t matter one bit if you can’t logon to your account or, on the flip side, if your sever is down, you’ll have something to do while you wait for it to come back up. With WoW Realm Status you’ll be able to check ahead of time before getting home if your server is up and running, full, or down for the count.

Donation version includes a widget as well!

Battle.net Authenticator: While on the subject of logging in and accounts, Blizzard released the Battle.net Authenticator for Android in case you are paranoid about your account security or you feel like being on the safe side. This will generate a random keycode each time for you when you want to login to your account on World of Warcraft or another Battle.net game.

Every login will have a different code generated for that particular login, enhancing your security to a whole new level and protecting it from various types of hacking attempts. This service is completely free from Blizzard and so is this application.

WoW Remote Auction House: Another application straight from Blizzard, the Remote Auction House application for Android will let you handle pretty much all your auction needs. While the free version will let you browse the auction house only, the subscription-based feature lets you do everything you want including make purchases, list items for sale from your bank/mailbox/bags, bid/buyout on items and collect gold.

The subscription will cost you $2.99 a month but the application is free to download off the Android Market. $2.99 is pretty worth it if you are one of those players who sells/buys a lot off the auction house, which is just about every single player in-game.

WoW Discussion offers players the ability to talk about WoW related topics in a forum style application right on your Android phone. It is completely free, easy to use and lots of people there to talk with.

Well that is it for now. This should get you well on your way for getting prepared for the upcoming World of Warcraft: Cataclysm expansion. While I don’t play WoW anymore myself, it would have been nice to have these at my disposal back when I did play. If you know of any other great WoW related utility applications, let us know! We will check them out and add them to the list!
