SpeedX sells 50,000 copies, gets stereoscopic 3D, half off sale

Developer HyperBees has sold 50,000 copies of Speed X on the Android market, not an easy feat to accomplish. They’ve also just updated Speed X with an experimental stereoscopic 3D mode (requiring glasses) and a 50% off sale to go with it until Saturday at 8AM.

The uneventfully named 1.9.1 update adds support for red-cyan and green-magenta glasses. While it’s still an experimental feature 3D worked mostly well. We tried the feature out and found that an HD2 had trouble keeping up higher speed modes in the game when in 3D mode. However this is just a performance limitation of older GPUs, as the feature requires twice the graphical horsepower according to the developer.

You can order a pair of 3D glasses and a copy of the game (at 50% off) for a total price of about 7 dollars, and we recommend doing so before the sale ends Monday at 8AM (EST).

Run it on a faster phone than an HD2? Be sure to let us know how it runs in the comments!
