Motorola CES liveblog – XOOM/ATRIX4G/BIONIC/CLIQ2 madness

Our Motorola CES live blog after the break! (Update: and it’s over!)

Newest First

5:54 PM: And that’s a wrap for Motorola’s press conference, very short press conference. Started really late, ended on-time interestingly.

5:52 PM: Motorola’s showing off updated Google Maps app, we’ve seen it running before. YouTube app updated for bigger screen, Google Books support added.

5:51 PM: Widgets have been enhanced ‘dramatically’ due to the screen real estate.

5:50 PM: Android Honeycomb promo video shows some of the new UI. Uses panes, seems similar to Notion Ink tablet.

5:48 PM: 3G Xoom tablet time. HD camcorder up to 1080P, 4G ‘upgradeable’ when it’s available, front/rear facing video camera. LTE may be built in, with a charge to unlock it, very underhanded on Motorola/Verizon’s part.

5:47 PM: Showed off FPS on Android, we’re definitely interested.

5:46 PM: Q1 for Android Xoom tablet running Android Honeycomb 3.0.

5:43: DROID BIONIC announced. First 4G LTE device by Motorola. Dual core Tegra 2 processor. 4.3 inhc qHD screen. HDMI output. Video chat anywhere. Rear and front facing cameras, 512 MB RAM. Encryption for data and “ready for business.” Coming H2 2011 with Verizon, of course.

5:40 PM: Cliq 2 comes with a slide out keyboard. Comes with MotoBlur and HSPA+ 4G. 1 GHz CPU, 3.7 inch display, comes loaded with crapware from Blockbuster and Printing to retail, and Amazon Kindle. WiFi calling. Available on T-Mobile. Might be capable of games, unlike the first.

5:39 PM: 3 more devices coming up.

5:38 PM: Bell Canada & Orange UK coming this year.

5:38 PM: No price right now but priced competitively when it launches.

5:36 PM: 20 4G phones with LTE and HSPA+ network, I’m assuming the LTE network isn’t built out enough yet for it.

5:35 PM: AT&T Mobility is on stage.

5:33 PM: Android keyboard dock on laptops planned for bringing ATRIX 4G. These are starting to look familiar (ASUS).

5:31 PM: Phone can render a full Android desktop with keyboard and mouse. Deep integration between phone and PC like sharing phone calls and contacts between platforms.

5:30 PM: Another unannounced phone sitting on the desk “we’ll get to that later.”

5:27 PM: Motorola is the quickest speaking press conference we’ve been to.

5:26 PM: 1 GB RAM, dual-core Tegra 2 CPU, high-resolution QHD display, massive 1930 MAh battery, fingerprint reader. They claim it’s the fastest smartphone and we don’t think otherwise.

5:25 PM: Talking 4G and faster processors. Good news!

5:24 PM: Motorola ATRIX4G announced “America’s 1st 4G smartphone”. 3 second teaser trailer.

5:21 PM: It’s starting late.
