Toshiba dual-core Android tablet appears on Amazon without pricing or release date

Earlier this year during CES 2011 we got to get a little up close and personal with the upcoming Toshiba dual-core Android tablet. This was also one of our top choices back then for Tegra 2 Android tablets and it still is to this day. Between the look, the nice back grip and just overall hardware, it is definitely a solid tablet.

Well it seems as though, like all events surrounding this tablet, it has pulled a ninja move and quietly appeared on Amazon. While lacking any sort of pricing or release date, the listing does offer up a full list of specs, most of which we already know. To recap though, here are the specs for the Toshiba 10.1″ dual-core Android tablet:

  • 10.1″ screen running at 1280×800 resolution
  • 2MP front-facing camera, 5MP rear-facing camera
  • Honeycomb
  • Dual-core Tegra 2 chip
  • WiFi, Bluetooth
  • Full-sized USB, miniUSB and full-sized SDCard slots along with an HDMI port
  • Removeable back plate so you can change the battery or the actual back plate to a different color (initially 5 to choose from at time of purchase). The back plate is also made out of a hard rubber material for extra grip which feels really nice.
  • Android Market access

Since this is coming from Toshiba, don’t expect this to be carrier subsidized at all so this will likely land in the $599-$799 price range. Hopefully it will be on the lower end of that price range. During CES 2011, while checking out all the Android tablets, we figured this particular one and the G-Slate would be the top runners for best tablets to buy if you are looking into a dual-core tablet. So far we think we are still right. The XOOM is still a solid tablet though as well, we just think it was pushed to market a bit early.
