Xperia Play competitor in the works? Possibly one day thanks to Yanko.

Think of a PSP with Android on it and you will basically have the initial design for a gaming platform being created by Yanko which, if it comes to light, would be a direct competitor with the Xperia Play. Granted Sony Ericsson has the backing of Sony and their Playstation games but Yanko would have the same benefit of gaming controls.

This is largely due to the fact that the Android SDK comes with a whole selection of button mapping options developers can use now when creating their games to make them compatible with devices like the Xperia Play.

Being labeled as the Samsung HD3 Console, this apparent device would have a 3D galaxy interface using an HD AMOLED screen, Dolby mobile speakers, a full set of gaming controls (two analog sticks, D-pad and at least 4 buttons), and a 8MP front facing camera with a 12MP rear facing camera. It will also be 4G compatible and come with 250GB of internal storage.

Of course this is a concept design and while the idea of cramming that much stuff into a mobile device is awesome, chances are if something like this was developed, we wouldn’t see a feature set like this such as the ridiculous dual-camera specs. Although you never know right? To be honest, if this came out or something similar, it would be a hard fight as to why one would want an Xperia Play over this concept HD3 Console unless you really need to have a phone attached to your portable gaming system.

There is a ton of other specs including software listed such as ‘Visio’ which would allow gamers to chat and other interesting social features. You’ll definitely want to head over to Yanko and check out the full list.
