Polarbit releases new chess game? It’s pretty slick though. Meet Chess: Battle of the Elements!

Back in February we got wind of a new game that Polarbit and Pinyl were working on called Chess: Battle of the Elements which takes the original game of Chess, mixes it with the four elements and tosses in a dash of multiplayer for good measure. Since then it has been pretty quite but now the wait is over and it is now available on the Android Market.

Sporting some great 3D graphics for the Chess pieces and boards, when you start up the game you can select which element you’d like to represent and from there all your pieces and your section of the board are that element. Each element also has a specific board design as well such as Earth who has a wooden board.

Also to throw in an added twist, there are over 1000 puzzles in the game to solve through playing Chess should you enjoy playing against the AI more than other actual people. The AI is adjustable so you can make it as hard or easy as you want. For multiplayer, it runs via the hot-seat method meaning you’ll be matched up randomly with other players.

Don’t worry if you are playing multiplayer and can’t finish a game right away, you will be able to save your game and resume at a later time. For those hardcore Chess players, you will also be able to view replays of completed games to study everything move by move.

You can pick up Chess: Battle of the Elements off the Android Market right now for $2.99. Well worth it if you like playing Chess.
