OnLive’s Veiwer app ripped from the HTC Flyer and available for most Android devices

HTC has their hands in OnLive after a fairly big investment awhile back. Coming embedded on new HTC devices, OnLives service will be available right out of the box. Their application, OnLive Viewer, has been ripped from the HTC Flyer and the folks at XDA have it available for use on most devices.

We have recieved a lot of tips about this over the weekend so before we get into the news about this, we would like to say thanks to everyone who sent this in! Onto OnLive’s Viewer…

While you won’t be able to play any games on the OnLive Viewer app, you will be able to view your friends playing online through their OnLive service. Currently a home-based service, we know it will be coming to mobile thanks to their Universal Remote, which we got to get a hands-on preview with at E3 2011 on the XOOM. We reported awhile back that the Viewer would be coming and is more of a social app, for now. This could be the building block for their upcoming game streaming to mobile devices or that could come as a separate app.

Owners of Tegra 2 Android devices, however, don’t seem to be able to run it just yet according to Android Police who are reporting that there are now reports of anyone getting the viewer to work on a Tegra 2 device. If you do get it to work, let us know!

From all the tips we have received about this, we have seen it running on everything from an OG Droid all the way up to the newest Android devices and it looks great. If anything, this should get everyone even more excited about OnLive’s actual gaming service coming to Android soon. If you want to try it out for yourself, just head over to XDA from the link below and install it! Enjoy!
