Phonejoy’s new gaming controller for Android, complete with dual-analog sticks now

We got this interesting little tip yesterday about a new product by Phonejoy. While they had originally released this product without the dual-analog sticks they have since remodeled, improved and built upon their first product. Now their game controller for Android is a complete set of control you will be familiar with.

Essentially a modified USB-style Playstation controller, Phonejoy has made modifications to it so that it comes with a bluetooth module instead which will allow you to connect through Bluez-IME app that is available on the Android Market. With this combination you can have a console-style controller to play your games with which is great for anyone who doesn’t own an Xperia Play and don’t own an Android device with Honeycomb 3.1 on it. In Honeycomb 3.1 a new feature came that brings USB Host support which will allow you to connect controllers, keyboard and whatever else you want via USB. Unfortunately, the majority of devices are not sporting Honeycomb 3.1 yet.

This looks like a well designed and completely feesible option for those of you who want to have some great console gaming controls while playing your games on your Android device. It works with most Gamevil games as well as every major emulator as well. With some configuring, most games should work with this as well but you’ll have to test it out with a little trial and error to see what games you own will work with this and will not.You will need an Android device running Android 2.2 or higher and preferably a higher-end one at that.

For more details and instructions on how to set it up, just head over to PhoneJoy’s official website. If you want to pick one of these up it will set you back $30. Check out the video below to see it in action with the controller being paired with a Samsung Galaxy S2 and using HDMI-out.

Thanks to Murray “NZtechfreak” Winiata for the heads up!
