IndieCade partners with LG for the IndieCade 3D Mobile Game Jam

IndieCade has announced that it has teamed up with LG for a new event at the conference for indie developers interested in developing games that are glasses-free 3D enabled for the LG Thrill 4G. This would also apply to other devices that handle glasses-free 3D as well.

Since LG is sponsoring the event though the focus will be on building glasses-free 3D enabled games for their Thrill 4G device. Developers will has access to the LG 3D development kits, state-of-the-art hardware and software to make prototypes and Thrill 4G phones to test them on. Of course you will retain the ownership of your prototype and IP in case you were curious. Once your prototype is done it will be presented to a panel of judges who will select winners of the 3D Mobile Game Jam.

Finalists will win a Unity Pro license and will also be eligible to win the LG Mobile 3D Award and awardees will also receive an LG Thrill 4G phone. So if you are a game developer looking to try out making a game in 3D for glasses-free 3D devices and happen to be in California between Aug. 6th and 7th, you might want to sign up and check it out. IndieCade Announces Mobile 3D Game Jam Presented by LG

Developers Can Sign Up to Participate

LOS ANGELES – July 28, 2011 –Independent Game Developers are invited to participate in the first IndieCade Mobile 3D Game Jam, to create games for the LG Thrill 4G, the world’s first 3D smartphone. The game jam is scheduled for Saturday – Sunday, August 6 – 7, 2011, at the University of Southern California in the Robert Zemeckis Center for Digital Arts.

The LG Thrill 4G uses glasses-free Real 3D, has front-and-rear cameras and 3D video capture.  Developers will have access to state-of-the-art development facilities, including hardware and software to develop innovative prototypes for this cutting-edge technology. LG Real 3D development kits and LG Thrill 4G phones will be on-hand for developers to test and play their prototypes.  Games can be created in Unity, Android and Java. Developers will retain ownership of IP produced during the event.

A panel of distinguished judges will select titles from the game jam to then be further developed and shown in a special exhibition at IndieCade 2011. Finalists whose games are presented will receive Unity Pro Licenses, be eligible to win the LG Mobile 3D Award and awardees will also receive an LG Thrill 4G phone. The accolade will be presented at the Red Carpet Awards Ceremonies on Friday, October 7, 2011.

The IndieCade Mobile 3D Game Jam is sponsored by global consumer technology leader LG Electronics, with additional support from Unity and Alienware. The Gam Jam will be co-produced by Akira Thompson and Christopher Bell.  Executive Producer is Celia Pearce.
