Screeching tires, roaring engines, police chases and buckets of money… this game has all the right ingredients to make a big tall cocktail of loveliness. With all these elements brought together and off the success of Reckless Racing, has Reckless Getaway got enough oomph to race into first place. Let’s find out!

Gameplay:
Let’s get right into the good stuff. The game starts off with the tutorial; which does exactly what it says on the tin. Now you’re thrown into the game without any explanation of why or how you got there, your straight into the car an on your way down the highway!
The first thing you notice is the simple layout, which we’ll delve into more on that later. The rating system on the levels is exactly what you find in most games now, a star rating system where the higher the score, the more stars you earn and levels you unlock.
So far the game features two game modes: Getaway and Wreckless. Getaway mode basically describes itself; the objective of this game mode is to get away from the police that are constantly on your tail. You’re given the car featured on the title screen to use in your battle to escape with as much cash as possible. The levels feature on and off-road driving which adds to the overall fun as you never know where you’re going to end up next. As for reckless mode, you’re given a huge green truck that is surprisingly fast. Again this game mode describes its self too. The aim of the game here is to destroy as many cars as possible while collecting power-ups that help you cause chaos on the roads. As with Getaway mode, you earn stars here to progress in your quest to cause as much havoc as humanly possible.
Controls:
This section is going to be really short! The game basically comes with 2 buttons, left and right. Told you… but really though, this game doesn’t have tons of controls, it’s literally left or right. With it being so simple, it’s never been so easy to control a car. Due to the great physics used in this game, turning the car on the ground or in the air is simple and fun to watch. For me personally when a game has great physics, even the simplest of movements look visually pleasing, and that’s what you’re going to find here. On an end note for the controls, I can’t fault them anywhere.

Graphics and Sound:
Eye candy is huge thing for a lot of gamers these days and I’m no different. It can mean the difference between a purchased game and an over looked game. Reckless Getaway won’t be over looked at all though. The game comes packaged with the same stunning graphics featured in the previous game, Reckless Racing. You can expect to have your eyes drooling (technically isn’t that crying? email me with your thoughts) over all the great visuals in this game. Everything is beautifully rendered and you can expect the same high quality spread out over all the game’s features.
Let’s just say my ears where very pleased. Great engine tones, radiant background music and brilliant sound effects can all be found in this racing game, finally. For me, when it comes to the racing genre, a lot of games don’t always deliver in the sound department, but I’m glad to say that this game does. I never found any of the sound effects to drop out or fade away; all of the different elements are blended really well, resulting in constant bright and vivid sounds and effects.
Overall:
Now this section is my overall view of them game and I understand people won’t always agree with me, that is due to everyone having different experiences with the games being reviewed. At the end of the day I found this game to be a huge thumbs up. It has to be in my top 10 of 2011 so far. Fun factor – check, great graphics – check, brilliant sound – check, what more could you want?
