Glu games get updates, gives “gameplay improvements” a bad name

Over the past few days several of glu’s games have gotten updates that provide “gameplay improvements” but upon further investigation the games only added more ads then before experienced in the games.

For example columns have been added to all the games that display nothing but ads for “cred”, coins and other perks purchase able though the game and other games it’s all the games to include for their  sizing in addition to the freemium set up of their games that charge for advancement though micro transactions in games. Buying items like cred do not however remove the ads from glus games?

Unfortunately the update didn’t address one of our biggest problems with their games being the fact that they all run in the background and as a separate service that consumes resources, periodically wakes our xoom and LG slate from sleep, enables wifi at random intervals, significantly limiting idle battery life on Android devices that allow these applications to run in the background.

We experienced this with:

  • Gun Bros
  • Eternity Warriors
  • Big Time Gangsta

Do you feel these ads are justified in these “freemium” games? Should these ads be removed after purchasing an in-game item? How do you feel about Glu’s blatant mislabeling of updates?
