Another one bites the dust, Snes9X emulator pulled from the Android Market

Continuing on with Google’s somewhat constant pulling of emulators off the Android Market, another one has just been yanked the other day which some people will arguably say was the best SNES emulator out for Android, Snes9X. All is not lost though.

While the developer still has yet to figure out the reason as to why his emulator has been pulled off the Android Market, he is still offering the .apk file as a download for free for those of you who want it. Not receiving an explanation is general practice when an app or game is pulled off the Android Market by Google. You usually get some generic statement about how it’s infringing on some copyright or trademark, or you’ve violated against the developer’s terms of agreement and conduct, regardless if it is true or not.

Here is what the developer received from Google:

This is a notification that the application, Snes9x EX with package ID com.explusalpha.Snes9x has been removed from Android Market due to a violation of the Developer Content Policy. Please review the Content Policies and Business and Program Policies before you create or upload additional applications. Note that repeated violations may result in a suspension of your Android Market Publisher account.

When this happens you can not re-instate that app or game back on the Android Market. You can try to put it back up as a different package name with a different name on the Android Market but you run the risk of having your entire account suspended.

As we mentioned above, you can still get Snes9X from the developers own site to download and use though.
