Publisher, Chillingo, getting back into Android, releases Spider Jack and other titles coming soon

Chillingo has been absent from the Android Market for awhile now having only tested it’s waters for a brief stint back in the earlier days of Android. Well now it seems they are getting back into the Android Market and have released their first game in awhile called Spider Jack.

Spider Jack is similar to Cut the Rope in that it’s a physics-based puzzle game where your goal is to get the spider to his food in each stage while avoiding the plethora of obstacles in his way. You also have stars to collect with the stars being your ranking. There are also little objects to help/hinder you along the way such as portals to mess up your path. It’s a pretty fun game to play, especially if you enjoy other physics-based puzzle games similar to Cut the Rope.

However, Chillingo isn’t stopping there and has two more planned releases, labeled as “coming soon” called Contre Jour and Roll in the Hole, both of which are pretty popular and stylish games. Contre Jour is more on the stylish end of things and is also a physics-based puzzle game of sorts which features game mechanics found in other games of that genre including Angry Birds, Cut The Rope and some others, all wrapped up in a black/grey/white dark theme.

Contre Jour has you playing as a little black blob who is looking for light, especially stars and a big blue star at the end of each level. To get to these lights you’ll have to use your skills found in other physics games to get your little blob over to them to collect. Each stage varies so while one stage may take you on a more Angry Birds type of trip, the next may be more like Cut the Rope.

Roll in the Hole is another physics-based puzzle game where you have to find/collect three ice creams in each stage to earn the maximum points per stage. You’ll be rolling your panda around the stage trying to collect these ice cream treats while making your way to the blue exit portal which will allow you to move onto the next stage. The controls are tilt-based so those of you who enjoy tilt-based physics games may want to give this one a whirl when it arrives.

Both titles are marked as “coming soon” so we really don’t know when that is but PocketGamer has also confirmed three more titles coming from Chilling in the near future as well called Parking Mania, Little Lost Chick, and My Vampire Boyfriend. With the list growing rather fast for Android releases from Chillingo, we may not have to wait long before both Contre Jour and Roll in the Hole are out on the market. Spider Jack is available as a free ad-supported title as well as a no-ads paid version for $0.99.

On a side note, this whole new push from Chillingo onto Android once again we figured would happened once EA bought them. We guessed right it seems.
