GTA III 10-year Anniversary Edition coming to Android Dec. 15th

Rockstar Games has let the word out that Grand Theft Auto III will be landing on Android and iOS December 13th which is next week! They were also nice enough to release some screenshots of the mobile version of the game which is celebrating it’s 10-year Anniversary.

Not only do we have a release date for GTA III but Rockstar has also announced that it will be available on the Android Market for $4.99. We told you it was coming awhile back and now it’s official. They have also updated the list of supported devices for both platforms although we have only included the list for Android here. GTA III will support gamepads when it is released. For those of you who were curious, that answers that, which is good since Ice Cream Sandwich will support the use of gamepads on both phones and tablets.

Android Tablets: Acer Iconia, Asus Eee Pad Transformer, Dell Streak 7, LG Optimus Pad, Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 and 10.1, Sony Tablet S, Toshiba Thrive

Android Phones: HTC Rezound, LG Optimus 2x, Motorola Atrix 4G, Motorola Droid X2, Motorola Photon 4G, Samsung Galaxy R, T-Mobile G2x

Amazingly the Dell Streak 7 is in there which Dell announced yesterday it would no longer be making. Aside from that, it’s all tablets and a few phones, at least for now anyways. As time passes we could see more devices added to the list but as it stands at launch, these will be the only ones for Android supported. Check out the screenshots above to see what it looks like for mobile. Remember, the graphics did get a face lift so it should look better than the original did.

On a final note, Rockstar Games has mentioned it’s “very possible” that we could see mobile ports of Vice City and San Andreas which would be awesome.
