Sony S Tablets receiving an update, brings Playstation controller support

Sony is beginning to roll out an update for their Sony S tablet which will bring native support for the Playstation controller. Already live out in Japan, the update will allow users to plug their Playstation controller into the Sony S Tablet via USB.

Once plugged in though you will be able to use your controller as a wireless one as much as you want. This is great news for owners of the S Tablet who do a lot of gaming as you can just plug-n-play your controller right into the tablet and be on your way to some better gaming on your tablet.

Unfortunately, if you own a P Tablet, the dual-screen tablet, you won’t be receiving the update, at least not in the near future as this one is only geared towards the S Tablet. No word yet on exactly when the update will jump the big blue puddle and land on our shores although it shouldn’t be long. Of course this may not even matter in the end as Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) will bring extended game controller support to all Android devices that receive the 4.0 update.
