Xbox Live companion app in the works for Android? It’s possible.

One would think that of all the companies to not make an app for Android that Microsoft would be one of them. However, we have to keep in mind that Microsoft has plenty of reasons to support Android considering they leech money off some manufacturers for every Android unit they sell. Keeping that in mind it looks like there may possibly be an Xbox Live companion app in the works.

While we have no idea what some of the features would be for an Xbox Live companion app, we can guess that things like achievements, friends lists and chat would be involved in an app of this nature. As to anything else it might include, who knows.

The basis for this speculation though comes from a job posting where Microsoft seems to be looking for iOS and Android developers for a Software Development Engineer position for Xbox Live. In fact the whole title of the position is “Software Development Engineer, Senior-IEB-Xbox Live Mobile” and the fact that the word mobile is included only feeds fuel to the speculation fire.

Considering this job listing is up the app itself is probably in early development if it has started at all. That means it would be at least Summer 2012 before we see anything. Still, pretty interesting food for thought no? Would you use an Xbox Live app on your Android device?
