Rovio has a rumored four games in development, what can we expect? nVidia drops some hints.

Rovio is still chugging along the Angry Birds path, milking the IP for all it is worth and there are no plans to slow down anytime soon. In fact Rovio is said to apparently have four Angry Birds themed titles on the go right now in development. So what can we expect from these new titles?

Some hints at what may come actually arrive thanks to nVidia of all companies. Talking at the Mobile Game Forum 2012, Nvidia’s mobile content vice president, Neil Trevett, was asked about moving to 3D and how it would affect other popular 2D games like Angry Birds. Neil started to answer “We’ve been speaking to Rovio, and they… ” before cutting himself short so as to not reveal anything.

He further went on to say that Angry Birds can do a lot more. Currently it uses a 2D physics engine but there is no reason why Rovio couldn’t switch over to a 3D physics engine instead, making for a much more deep gameplay experience. Things like shots being more accurate, more accessible gameplay in terms of camera control and even the addition of things like particle effects for background visuals like exploding volcanoes in the background.

Much richer graphics would also be apart of a new Angry Birds experience. However, as of right now, don’t go expecting a 3D Angry Birds to land in our laps anytime soon but Rovio and nVidia seem to be talking and that is always a good sign. Add that to the fact that Rovio apparently has four games in the works and it is completely feasible. A 3D Angry Birds might actually make me start playing it again.
