[MWC 2012] Mobile game social platform Skiller gets new real-time multiplayer added to its SDK

For those of you who haven’t heard of Skiller and their free open-source SDK for game developers to use, it is a lot like OpenFeint and other, more social, SDKs available for developers to use. This particular SDK, however, focuses more on building actual multiplayer games.

Announced at MWC 2012, Skiller has received an update that will allow developers to easily incorporate real-time multiplayer into their games. The Skiller SDK allows developers to build cross-platform real-time and turn-based multiplayer games for a variety of mobile platforms including Android. It also comes with similar features that you would find in other SDKs from OpenFeint and other companies such as leader boards, tournament set-ups and more.

One interesting bit of information though regarding the multiplayer functionality is that Skiller states you don’t need to have a server. According to the FAQ, Skiller allows for real multiplayer without developers having to worry about server side logic, maintaining hardware backbone, community management and scalability. Apparently they handle that stuff for you. It doesn’t go on to clarify what that means but it is pretty interesting.

If you want to try out Skiller’s SDK, you can do so by download it for free from the Skiller website.
