Sega looking to bring the Total War PC game series to mobile

Ah yes, one of those generic ‘mobile’ type of announcements but considering who it is from, there is a good chance that Android will be one of the platforms to get the new mobile version of the Total War series from The Creative Assembly and Sega.

The Total War series, which will be renamed to Total War Battles when it comes to mobile, is a turn-based strategy series of games which features some great visuals and comes with all the features you would expect in this type of game. This includes things like resource management and real-time tactical control of units in battle.

This isn’t the traditional you might expect. We are working on a title that is specifically tailored to the play styles and control methods of mobile platforms. We want to deliver a game that plays to the strengths of handheld RTS mechanics, and perfectly adapts to a host of different platforms. We’re developing in Unity to help us achieve stunning visuals, gameplay and audio on all our target devices. – Renaud Charpentier, the Lead Designer on the new Total War Digital team

There are a total seven titles in the series which first came out in 2000 and the latest game, Total War: Shogun 2, arriving in 2011, all of which are for the PC. The entire series will be coming to mobile platforms although which platforms those are has yet to be announced. However, considering Sega’s recent and consistent push onto Android, topped off which the hardware advances in Android devices, we really believe that this will arrive on Android.

As of right now there is no specific details on which of the seven Total War titles will arrive on mobile first but we will be keeping an eye out for addition details for when this will be released. The first title is supposed to be released in the ‘very near future’ though so we may not have to wait long. You can check out the full press release below for all the details.
