Droidgamers: Android Games We’re Playing This Week 4/1 – 4/7

Like a middle child, mobile games are constantly vying for our attention. Every week there is a new shipment of mobile games propping themselves on our desks and demands to be played. While we do have dedicated reviewers, sometimes the games can be just as engaging as reviewing your W-2 forms.

So we present “Game’s We’re Playing This Week”, outstanding games that deserves longer than your average bathroom romp. Every week one member of our staff will sift through the best Android games, new or old, on their devices that they are playing relentlessly, pick a couple of them, and share them with you. As always we’re on constant lookout for hidden gems, so if you have a great game to share, please feel free to comment below.

Mystique Chapter 1: Foetus by Bendroid LLC

Google Play Link: Mystique Chapter 1: Foetus

You awaken up in a strange room and splitting headache. Digging into your memory, you try to recollect the events from the night before. Slowly staggering to your feet you look around the room for clues, and to your horror you find a bathtub brimful of blood. No this isn’t the plot for the third Hangover film. This is Mystique Chapter 1: Foetus! The first chapter in the series has been brooding on the corner of the Android Market (before it was called Google Play young’uns) since the hey day of the G1.

Mystique Foetus is a a horror/mystery game. Using wits and tools available to you, you’re tasked with solving a number of puzzles that will lead to your escape. I won’t give out much details, but rest assured this is gem is a great tittle that deserves your screams.

N64oid by Jongzh

SlideMe Market: N64oid

Since my Nintendo 64 is currently being used as either a foot rest or preventing coffee table wobbling at my mothers house, emulators are my way to quench some late 90’s gaming. Thanks to N64oid I can catch up on games I’ve missed and games I’ve played. Of course, the systems also carries one of the greatest RTS of all time — Starcraft. Sure I can download Gameloft’s me too game, Starfront, but I’d rather play the original thanks. Nothing beats the screams of agony as your decimate an entire Terran base with a properly timed Zerg Rush.

Mafia Farm by Mindstorm Studios

Google Play Link: Mafia Farm

What made me start playing this game? The name I guess. I enjoy building games but so many of them seem to be the same thing. Mafia Farm is a nice change. Growing crops is only a small part. The main part of the game is growing your mafia but hiring thugs, buying limos, helicopers, turret towers, gym equipment and more. Got to make a living though, so you need to do take jobs in cities like Chicago, New York, and LA.

After you finish your jobs, time to do some raiding of other farms! Now when you are finish all of that, you can do some of the quests in the game. This is a social game, so everyone can do what do, thus you have to build up your armor/defense, fire power and reputation in the mob as you progress. It definitely is a fun and different angle on the building type games. There are no notifications which I would love to see added. Finally I love the elevator music in the game it is awesome!

Triple Town by Spry Fox

Google Play Link: Triple Town

When I first saw this game, I was intrigued, so I decided to download it. Well now I cannot stop playing. It is fun puzzle game. Your job is to create the largest town, population-wise before there are no more places to expand. How do you build up you population? By combining things- 3 grasses make a bush, 3 bushes make a tree, 3 trees make a small house, and so on.  You only have so much space so you need to try and figure out the best place to put things that will give you the combination you want. Now the free version allows you only 150 turns before you need to take a break for a while.

You can purchase unlimited turns + 3 additional map layouts. I have not yet but am seriously thinking about it. As you play, you earn coins which you can use to purchase specific items to place on the board to help in your building combinations. Overall it can be a fast paced building/puzzle game that could last indefinitely depending on how well you play. I constantly finding myself trying to improve my score and I challenge myself to do it without buying anything in with store. From my experience, looks like I might need to get some help to move to the next level! You can play on Google+, Android, and iOS if you too.

So what games are you playing this week? Let us know you top two titles in the comments below! We are sure a lot of you will probably say Angry Birds Space or Temple Run.
