The over-to-air Android 4.0.4 update is now available for Nexus S 4G owners

Sprint began to push out the latest version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to owners of the Nexus S 4G last week. As exciting as that is, some of you may still be waiting for the update to reach your device. There’s no need to wait on Sprint of you don’t want to. All you need is the full over-the-air update file which is now conveniently available to everyone.

The update file was made available thanks to the Android Central forums, and Android Police has two mirrored links so you can download the update easily.

Once you get the file, you’ll have to go through a series of steps in order to begin the installation process. It isn’t anything as complicated as rooting an Android device, but you should be somewhat comfortable with moving around files on a SD card and starting up your phone in recovery mode if you’re thinking of doing this. Android Police also has a nice step-by-step that’s easy enough for anyone to follow.

There are only a small number of devices that can claim to officially run on Android 4.0.4. Nexus S 4G owners are part of an exclusive class of Android users.
