DroidGamers: Android Games We’ve Been Playing The Last Two Weeks 4/15 – 5/4

Yes, we know. I’ve read all your messages and we do apologize for missing out on our weekly feature. However, we’ve more than made up by upping the normally two a week games to six. So if you’ve been dying to know what’s been getting some face time on our mobile phone, look no further than Droidgamers: Game’s We’re Playing The Last Two Weeks

Like a middle child, mobile games are constantly vying for our attention. Every week there is a new shipment of mobile games propping themselves on our desks and demands to be played. While we do have dedicated reviewers, sometimes the games can be just as engaging as reviewing your W-2 forms.

So we present “Game’s We’re Playing This Week”, a weekly reflection on outstanding games that deserves longer than your average bathroom romp. Every week members of our staff will sift through the best Android games, new or old, games they’ve been playing relentlessly, pick a couple of them, and share them with you. As always we’re on constant lookout for hidden gems, so if you have a great game to share, please feel free to comment below.

Zombie Smash

American media has taught me that violence and gore should be celebrated like birthdays and office parties. While the FCC and MRPAA have been monitoring every piece of media like a third grade teacher, violence seems to be it’s favored child. Thankfully this leeway means more fuel for my favorite obsession — Zombies. While the the undead infestation have already overtaken the Android Market Google Play, new comer Zombie Smash adds a physic based like (think Angry Birds) gameplay that let’s you toss, flick, and smash the hoard into a humorous pulp.

Yes we know you iOS owners have been dismembering zombies for two years now, go gloat somewhere else. Using your fingers you can drag the zombie and launch in them airborne and watch as their body hit the ground to a bloody mess. While you can certainly judge my morals and psyche, you can’t deny the fact that zombie destruction is just plain satisfying.

Emissary of War

Cedar Hill Games Inc.

Google Play: Link

Here’s a hidden gem that more people should be talking about. Emissary of War is a top notch action RPG that you didn’t even know you wanted. While I have finished this tittle before, I’ve took Cedar Hills finest for a second run, and boy, its charms has yet to wear off. Even if you hate dungeon crawler type gameplay, Emissary of War has a genuinely funny story that can carry the game alone. This is a stellar tittle, with great graphics and a cast of voice actors. If it sounds like the company is stuffing loose change in my pocket, it’s not so. The action is gratifying and the humor never feels forced. Downside? It’s short. You can finish the tittle in one sitting or while waiting for your clothes to dry. Otherwise give Cedar Hill Games your money.

Gravity Project

Alper Sarikaya

Google Play: Link

Here was my initial reaction to this game:

“Hmm..okay, great graphics, tense soundtrack. Ahh,a mandatory tutorial, alright great. ‘Flick your finger up to jump and and down to slide, collect stuff’. Wait a darn tootin minute, this is just like Temple Run. Wait this is exactly Temple Run in a space suit! What a rip off! They should get sued! It’s like the developers didn’t even bother trying to…hold on, what’s this? ‘swipe left and right to switch gravity’? Oh my god, the whole screen turned! Whoa, this ingenious! Man, this is a lot of fun, much better than Temple Run.”

Moron Test 2

DistinctDev, Inc.

Google Play: Link

According to Moron Test 2, I may have the lowest IQ in the earth. While I normally accept insults in the form of fisticuffs (Popeye style) I didn’t mind the few jabs the developers threw, and there is a whole lot. While not entirely dependent on how actually smart you are, the developers cleverly trick you into failing. Though once you actually “pass” the question it becomes overly obvious that you wonder why you failed in the first place. At times it’ll put your reaction and memory skills to the test (which again you’ll fail miserably, you too Superman). I much prefer this than the sillier Impossible Quiz because it does require some logic.

My favorite part? Their always helpful hint ” You did something wrong”. Gee thanks for the help.

Oh and check out my review HERE.

Iruna Online

Asobimo, Inc.

Google Play: Link

Last week one of our long time readers (Jongungbu) mentioned a game by the name of Iruna Online. Like most apps and games I downloaded Iruna and it sat on my G2X for about 3 days. Hoping to try something new this week, I finally booted up the game and in a blink of an eye, lost 2 hours of my life. Iruna is a Multi Massive Online Role Playing game (MMORPG) also commonly known as ‘soul sucking gaming’ aka ‘never see your family again past level 10’.

These type of games demands you spend hours on it to fully reap the benefits. I normally stay away from these type of games as I know how addicting they can be. Iruna certainly isn’t the best MMO currently out on Android. In fact it’s a very typical one, forcing you to grind, seek quest and craft weapons and armor. Why did I spend so much time on it? Perhaps the quirky Japanese graphics brings me back to the Square’s heydays of Final Fantasy, or interacting with other players in a large scale world. Maybe, maybe not. I spent the last 10 minutes of it harassing other players for my own amusement. Thanks Jongungbu.

The worst part isn’t over yet. Our resident Editor-in-chief Andrew Huff just spilled the beans on Asobimo, Inc. newest MMORPG Celes Arca.

Swords and Soldiers

Two Tribes

Google Play: Link

While finally making its way to Google Play this week, I’ve been quite addicted to Two Tribes RTS game for a couple of week now thanks to the Humble Bundle (if you guys didn’t participate, shame on you!). While I patiently wait for a Blizzard type RTS, Swords and Soldiers has become my go to fix for the genre. While not as in depth as most  PC real time strategy, its wacky cartoony graphics and amusing campaign has won me over.

So there you have it. While I patiently wait for Max Payne to arrive, these games had me pretty much occupied. Oh and of course the elections, no one can get away from ’em. If you guys have any hidden gems, or just outright games you’d like to share, feel free to comment below.
