Rovio’s Angry Birds franchise downloaded over a billion times, possible sneak peek at their next game?

Statistics… who doesn’t love statistics? Especially when they involve massive numbers that make you go ‘DAMN!’. Well Rovio has pumped out some statistics today about their Angry Birds franchise and their revenue and yes, it includes big numbers.

Between all the Angry Birds games on all platforms, the Angry Birds franchise has been downloaded over a billion times. That is a ridiculous number in itself but when looking at Rovio’s profits, they have made a silly amount of money. Their latest earning report has Rovio making $106 million dollars last year, 30% of which came from all the merchandizing they have done with the Angry Birds franchise. That is a lot of cookbooks, slippers, phone cases, gummy candies etc etc being sold.

They also are saying that this year, 2012, looks to be even better for them. That is certainly possible since this year there is Angry Birds Space, Angry Birds TV show and a possible movie being released plus, of course, more merchandise. To celebrate all of this, they have release a Thank You video which you can watch above. In this video, it looks like they are showing off a sneak peek for their next game which, as PocketGamer points out, looks a lot like Casey’s Contraptions for iOS.

Of course that is just speculation but the blonde character is almost identical to Casey in Casey’s Contraptions. This could be a tie-in to that game or a whole new title. We are betting it’s a whole new separate game though.
